Sarasota - Siesta Key - Longboat Key Rentals & Resorts

My wife and I traveled from Aspen to Sarasota for the entire winter season a few years ago and rented a basic unit from the owner. The unit was freshly-painted, with a sparkling swimming pool right outside our door, everything clean, cable TV and VCR provided, and there were beach chairs and even bicycles belonging to the hotel which were free to use.

Our stay could not have been better, and we fell in love with Sarasota so much we returned every winter thereafter since staying at Gumbo Limbo. We even got married on Siesta Key and the owner, Ms. Heidersberger, hosted our small reception at the hotel.

Just steps from the most beautiful beaches in Florida, nice, well-appointed rooms, a swimming pool and tropical plantings -- Gumbo Limbo is a jewel, and the owner went out of her way to make our stay so memorable we have now moved to Sarasota and bought a house!

Dear Virginia, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for a wonderful weekend at Gumbo Limbo. The unit could not have worked out better for the six of us, we had plenty of space. Despite the rainy weather and cool temperatures, we were able to enjoy the beautiful pool area all three days. Allowing us to check in early and check out late made our arrival and departure so much smoother, I just can’t thank you enough for working with our flight schedules. My husband and I stayed in townhouse 662 with our parents, brother & sister-in-law, and 1 1/2 year old child. Everyone had a wonderful time and greatly enjoyed the accomodations. The townhouse is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The pool was absolutely wonderful, and we felt like we were in our own tropical oasis. The beach was a short walk away, and the provided beach chairs and beach toys were great! We will be back again, and would gladly recommend Gumbo Limbo to our friends and family. Thanks again! Myra

“Pure bliss and serenity” I have been all over the world. I have stayed in the best of the best. Gumbo Limbo in Sarasota was the most relaxing and refreshing experience I have had in years. The property is wonderfully tropical and inviting. The rooms and amenities are very clean and comfortable. The price is a steal! I took a few steps and found the best beach in the entire southern United States. The proprietor was incredibly kind and friendly. I plan to make this location the sanctuary for writing my next book. GUMBO LIMBO is the nicest vacation spot I have ever been to. The location is perfect - - right across the street from the most beautiful beach in the country and a short walk to the cute little village with plentiful fun spots for eating and drinking. (I especially liked the SIESTA KEY OYSTER BAR). also, great shops for visitors shopping needs. The accomodations were just as advertised (if not better). Very attractively decorated - spotless - plenty of towels and everything we needed. We also enjoyed the great little swimming pool surrounded with lush greenery. I will cherish the memory of my vacation at GUMBO LIMBO and hope to return many times. Dennis

This was the perfect and most relaxing vacation I have needed for so long, especially with the winters we have in NY. A very tropical and laid-back property, almost like being in Hawaii. The accommodations were a very nice taste of old Florida, I could have been Hemmingway writing a novel at a quaint bungalow in Key West, but the prices here are the best I have found anywhere. Too good to pass up, and I am so glad I didn't. The pool is gorgeous, you could almost fall over and be on the beach (ok, one hop and one skip, and then fall on the glorious sand). It has been reported, and I can verify that the sand on Siesta Beach is some of the finest in the world. Siesta village is just a short walk. The owner was extremely friendly and courteous. So much comes with the room; bicycles, beach chairs, TV (but who needs that when you're in a paradise like this?), toys and ammenities for the kids. They even had a wildlife rescue guy come and save an injured pelican on the beach faster than any ambulance I've seen in NY. My new home away from home. I want to move there. Allen

The location that close to the beach made it a perfect place from which we were able to take a few steps to the beach or take the short walk to Siesta Village for dinner. “Awesome place for Beach Vacation” I stayed at GUMBO LIMBO for over a week. I am a very picky guest and was totally impressed with this property. The condo, linens and towels were very clean; there were no strange odors in the condo; the A/C worked very well; and the pool was immaculate. An added bonus you get with this property is its close proximity. Hans

“I hated to leave Gumbo Limbo” Gumbo Limbo was an absolute pleasure, from it's outstanding location just steps to one of "the world's whitest sand beaches", to it's spacious accomdations,to it's romantic heated lagoon pool. The resort combines a decidely tropical feel,with an emphasis on privacy,with the convenience of being in walking distance of everything,wether sports or water oriented,shopping or dining we never needed our car.Then again who would since management graciously provides free bicycles for scooting about the key and charming village.For those with kids there is not only free bikes, but free beach toys,chairs.sun umbrella's and boogie boards. Lastly being somewhat of a stickler for cleanliness,I can happily report that the accomodations were very clean,and the unit well appointed.Whatever requests were made of management were met with a cheerful accomodating attitude that made us feel really appreciated.
